FAILURE - the Key to Success
Failure to me is not about the physical, but the mental. Failure is about taking your mind to the next level about doing something to the edge of your limitation. There are two thing I want to address regarding this topic. The "WHY" and the "HOW"?
I will fist give props to a couple of guys who have helped me develop this way of thinking. There are quite a few, but two that really solidify my way of thinking.
First Paul Salo - I think this guy is either in the late 40's or early 50's, but he's in pretty good shape for his age. Basically he's thinking is go to the gym one time, but make it count.
Second Micha Janiec - A natural body builder who always pushes the limits. Best advice I got from him is "Failure is the Key to Success"
There are quite a few people also that I have gotten their philosophies from, but these two contribute the most in terms of why "FAILURE".
So the why?..."WHY" failure is so important is because most people really never find out where there limits are so this is a good benchmark to see where to start.
Failure is important because it helps speaks to the body and basically tells the body with "FASTING" to "BUILD MUSCLE" and "BURN THE FAT". We basically give the body no option, but to build muscle and burn fat. This is what I like to call "Failsafing / Idiotproofing". (I will go into this topic more in the future)
So HOW do you get to failure? There are a couple of ways to do it, but I like "EFFICIENCY" and "FUN", so I will go over what is the fastest and most enjoyable for me to go to failure.
In doing this program you can always do it at your pace and decide what's best for you, but in terms of how I speak here I will always try to refer to efficiency and fun because that's what's important for me.
There are two ways to look at failure... I call my method Minimal Protocol a form of Reverse CrossFit.
1. CrossFit - To keep doing something as many times as possible until you can't.
2. Minimal Protocol or Reverse CrossFit - To do something more efficiently to get to the end result faster.
I will try to elaborate.
Both these methods drains the body of it's energy one tries to do as many while the other tries to do with less.
In CrossFit the goal would be to do as many pull ups as possible. In Minimal Protocol the goal would be to do the least amount of pull ups until you can't do no more.
So what do I mean by doing the least amount of pull ups. Well for me this would either be adding weights or doing it slower. The resistance and the weights cause your body to drain the energy quicker hence getting to the end result at a quicker rate.
This is important for me because it gets me to my end result at the same time keeps it less mentally straining.
What would be easier mentally? To do 50 pull ups or to do 5 pull ups perfectly? To jog 10 miles as fast as you can or to sprint for 10 seconds as fast as you can? But you get my point here.
I will try to submit a video stating the same concepts making it easier to digest.
For now hope this helps! Just let me know if you have any questions and I will try to address them in the upcoming posts.
